Swim Meet Information

  1. Wear team apparel. Please wear our team t-shirt, suit and cap at all swim meets. If you ordered mesh shorts or a drag suit please wear these as well.  It is important that we look like a team.

  2. For away meets, all swimmers must meet at Bowditch Field for the bus by 3:45 PM. The cost for the riding the bus is $2 per swimmer. The bus travels both ways (for regional meets only 1 way).

  3. Sign in by 5:10 PM with one of the assistant coaches at all meets. We need to confirm that everyone is there as soon as possible. If someone is missing this may require the coaching staff to make important changes to our team line-up.

  4. Check the line up (it will be posted) to find out what you are swimming. If your child is young please help them read the line-up. The line-up will show the strokes, heats, and lanes each person is in. The important thing is that all swimmers know what strokes they are swimming and if they are in a relay.

  5. Warm up for those 11 years old and younger will be 5:30 PM-5:45 PM. Warm up for those 12 and older will be from 5:45 PM-6:00 PM. At away meets sometimes the entire group will begin warm up at 5:30 PM. This will not be a problem because everyone will be there by 5:10 PM. We are always early and this helps us a lot.

  6. We will have a team meeting a few minutes before the start time at every meet. There is not much time for a meeting so please make sure your child is close by so they can come over when it begins.

  7. The order of strokes is: butterfly, freestyle, breaststroke, backstroke. The meet will start with 2 graduated medley relays and finish with freestyle relays for every age group (8 & under relay is coed).

  8. There will usually be a parent in the stands that announces what strokes/age groups should go to line up. At home meets we line up along the blue benches. Swimmers will line up and there will be another parent who organizes them according to their heats and lanes. When the swimmers line up they are in the “bullpen” (also known as “clerk of course”).

  9. Swimmers are expected to swim their race, ask for their time, and then see a coach for feedback. Please encourage your children to come directly to a coach after their race. It is important that they get into the habit of remembering their time, and seeing a coach after each race for feedback.

  10. We would like swimmers to stay in the pool area as much as possible to watch the meet and cheer for their teammates. The more TEAM SPIRIT the better!!!!

  11. Swimmers should be drinking water or sports drink like Gatorade throughout the meet. Only healthy, light snacks during the meet…no candy, donuts, etc. Check our website links on nutrition for more information about what to eat before, during and after swimming events.

  12. If you have a question, please ask one of the coaches ASAP. If a question comes up during the meet do not be afraid to ask. I am sure that any confusion you have will clear up after the first meet or two.

GO FROGS!!!!!!!!!!!
